The Day After Tomorrow (Rated PG-13)
Starring: Dennis Quaid, Jake Gyllenhaal, Emmy Rossum, Sela Ward, Dash Mihok, Jay Sanders, and Austin Nichols
Directed by: Roland Emmerich
Synopsis: Jack Hall, paleoclimatologist, must make a daring trek across America to reach his son, trapped in the cross-hairs of a sudden international storm which plunges the planet into a new Ice Age.
My Thoughts: This is another end of the world movie, with a scientific twist. If you can get past the sheer ridiculous idea that the whole world will go into an ice age within 10 days, then this may be the movie for you. The acting was decent. There were some fairly stupid lines (Jack Gyllenhaal yelling, “it’s going to get really, really bad!”). However, the ultimate story behind it all, a father who loves his son so much that he’ll brave walking through deadly cold temperatures to get to him, is kind of amazing. Overall, I actually liked this movie. It’s not realistic, but who cares? It’s a movie. I would recommend it, if you like world’s end/apocalypse type movies.
