Miracle (Rated PG)
Starring: Kurt Russell, Patricia Clarkson, Nathan West, Kenneth Mitchell and Eddie Cahill
Directed by: Gavin O’Connor
Synopsis: Miracle tells the true story of Herb Brooks (Russell), the player-turned-coach who led the 1980 U.S. Olympic hockey team to victory over the seemingly invincible Russian team.
My Thoughts: I will admit that I am definitely a sucker for a feel good, underdog, sports movie. The fact that Miracle is based on a true story just makes it an even better viewing experience. The cast was great. They cast guys that could play hockey and wanted to act versus actors trying to look like they could play hockey. Everything about Miracle was believable. Whether it was the game commentary, Kurt Russell’s interpretation of Herb Brooks, or the interactions between hockey players from Minnesota and Boston in 1980, I believed what they were showing me. No matter how many times I watch this movie I still get chills during the U.S vs. Russia game. I would highly recommend this movie, especially since it’s Winter Olympics season.
