Lemonade Mouth (Rated G)
Starring: Bridgit Mendler, Adam Hicks, Hayley Kiyoko, Naomi Scott, Blake Michael and Nick Roux
Directed by: Patricia Riggen
Synopsis: When five ragtag freshmen meet in detention, it seems they have nothing in common. But, through music, they form an unbreakable bond and discover they have the makings of the greatest high school garage band in history! In the face of incredible odds, Olivia, Stella, Wen, Mohini and Charlie find they can make a real difference when they learn to lean on each other and let go of everything holding back their dreams.
My Thoughts: Good grief! Another ridiculous Disney movie that I feel like I’m too old to be watching, but got sucked into anyway. The acting is average, nothing Earth shattering that you have to go see right away. The plot is interesting, but not exactly believable. As if 5 people that met in detention would happen to all play different instruments that work in a band setting. Plus you can just throw together 2 songs with lyrics on the spot? Doubtful. The songs were, of course, catchy. I even bought the darn soundtrack on iTunes. The cynic in me really didn’t want to like this movie, but the truth is I like it so much that I bought the dvd. If you have kids, there’s your perfect excuse to watch Lemonade Mouth. With red cheeks (from slight embarrassment) I’d recommend it.
3.5 out of 5 Popcorn Buckets (I’m torn between liking it and really liking it)
